YOU NEED TO EAT HERE!!!! We were visiting from California (which means we are picky) and LET ME TELL YOU!!! EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!! We tried quite a few things (fried green tomatoes, pittmaster, ribs, chicken & pulled pork) because everything sounded delicious and it did not disappoint! Service and hospitality was A+++++!! Absolutely a must visit!!
My family had a great experience here in this gem of Old Louisville. Everyone was raving about their meal. The smoked meats are the star of the show but all of the sides and starters were amazing as well. The staff was friendly and the prices were very reasonable.
Nice little hidden place here in Louisville. Ribs fall off of the bone and a prices are good. Smoker going on out back so the meat is definitely fresh!
This was my first experience at this restaurant and I plan to be back for more delicious goodness. The Fried Green Tomatoes really whet my appetite for when the Shrimp & Grits arrived which was hands down the best I have ever eaten. Though the portions weren't extremely large, the quality made up for it. This restaurant though fairly small should be packed with people and definitely this needs to expand into other areas of the city, state, region & country so that everyone can experience these delicacies that were hand delivered by the sweetest and nicest server around. Keep up the great cooking & service! You are definitely a gem in this town.
Food was amazing! I really liked the pulled pork, burger, and fries. My girlfriend loved the fried tomatoes, burger, and homemade cheddar grits. I would definitely come back. Our waitress and staff were friendly and attentive. Great prices. We always try to find local restaurants when visiting new places. This is definitely a hidden gem.
We were visiting Kentucky for work and was looking for a spot open on Christmas we came across The service station reviews were excellent. We went in and sat down and was greeted right away. I must say the food was beyond amazing food ok bbq very flavored and season we got the bbq platter with Mac n cheese and greens and a side of sweet potatoes, for our starter those steak and cheese egg rolls ohh myyy with the sauce yesssss 10 starsfor the entire meal, I give them 10 stars across the board. Ima very hard person to please but the bbq and sides I highly recommend. Merry Christmas!
Perfect example of never judge a book by its cover! You can get over the remodeling look of the dining area, you are in for a REAL TREAT! 1st.. It is seat yourself. The waitress will be around. She was incredibly friendly and very personable. We started with cans of Coke and cups of ice. Then we got the Philly cheese steak egg rolls...BLEW OUR MINDS GOOD! Not spicy but super flavor packed! We then shared the BBQ platter and opted for Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes for the sides....MIND BLOWN AGAIN! The ribs were perfectly sauced with sweet and tangy and fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. The pulled pork was cooked to perfection with a smoky flavor that hit the taste buds just right. The chicken was smoked and glazed with the same tangy and sweet sauce and roasted to absolute deliciousness. Now, the potatoes were mashed and had some of the boiled skins in and were southern comfort at ita best BUT the real flavor-gasmic...the real winner here was the mac n cheese! Rich, cooked to perfection and extremely creamy..this Mac n cheese will take your taste buds to a place they will beg to go back to. All in all, 10 out of 10 and then some! DO IT..JUST GO!
This place is a gem. The food was delicious and the fries were banging with that seasoning. I also love that they use mixed greens on the burgers instead of iceberg lettuce, I will have to get extra bacon next time because you only get one slice. Lolol. Service was great, food came out in a decent time and "hot"! Will definitely be back.
My boyfriend and I decided to get the BBQ platter, because it comes with ribs, half a chicken, pulled pork and 2 sides! The smoked chicken was super tender and juicy and had a really nice smoky flavor to it! I got the Mac and cheese and it was really cheesy and flavorful. I wanted the greens, but they were out. 😢 But all in all, great service, great experience! One of Louisvilles best black owned restaurants!
Went to The Service Station over the weekend and had a good experience. It was pretty slow inside, we were the only table the entire time we were there. I think they may have bee getting a fair amount of pickup / DoorDash orders though. They have a pretty big menu; I got the pork sandwich and my husband got the bbq platter. Everything was really good. The Mac and cheese was cold, but the flavor was good despite the temperature. Service was attentive. Our bill was $81 after tip for the entrees plus an order of fried pickles appetizer, which I felt was a bit high for bbq but the platter my husband ordered was a good portion of the bill. It wasn’t the BEST bbq I’ve ever had, but still good and I’d recommend!
